Beachman secures manufacturer licenses, launches first road-legal bike in Canada
Beachman Motor Company, a Canadian startup best known for its retro-inspired e-bikes, has officially secured both national and international motorcycle manufacturer licenses, marking a major step in its growth from a boutique builder to a recognized OEM. The approvals, granted by the Canadian federal government and SAE International, establish Beachman as the first new Canadian motorcycle manufacturer in more than a decade.

Alongside the announcement, Beachman unveiled its first fully road-legal motorcycle, the Beachman ’64 LM (Light Motorcycle). Available now in Canada, the electric model carries a top speed of 70 km/h (just over 43 mph) and requires licensing and insurance in most provinces. Nearly identical in design to the company’s ’64 e-bike, the LM trades pedals for a pure motorcycle experience.
“This achievement has been four years in the making,” says Ben Taylor, co-founder and CEO of Beachman. “The ’64 LM is the bike we’ve always wanted to build—one with no compromises. It represents freedom, simplicity, and the joy of riding.”
Taylor noted that Beachman joins BRP Can-Am as one of the only Canadian motorcycle manufacturers operating on the global stage. “It’s something our team is proud of,” he says. “We’re building manufacturing expertise here at home while much of the world continues to offshore.”

For U.S. dealers, Beachman confirmed that the LM will be brought to the American market once regulatory clearances are complete. The company already sells its e-bike/moped hybrids to U.S. riders and views the LM as the next step in expanding its lineup.
Looking further ahead, Beachman announced plans to expand into Europe in 2026, its first market outside North America. To support this growth, the company has also initiated a new investment round aimed at scaling production and expanding global operations.
“With licenses secured, a motorcycle now on the road, and expansion into the U.S. and Europe on the horizon, this is the perfect moment for new investors and dealer partners to join our journey,” Taylor adds.

Quite possibly one of the ugliest motorcycles I’ve ever seen, next to the Honda Rebel.
