AMA, FIM North America join Global FIM leadership seminar
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and FIM North America recently joined motorcycle federation and continental union leaders from around the world at the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Secretaries General meeting, held Sept. 15-16 at Oxford University’s historic Merton College in England.

The annual seminar brings together global motorcycle sport leaders to collaborate on key issues impacting riders, organizers, and federations worldwide. Discussions this year covered insurance challenges, off-highway access, environmental impact, recreational riding trends, volunteer management, international rider licensing, and addressing the risks of unsanctioned events.
AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman, who also serves as president of FIM North America, emphasized the value of the international exchange:
“Motorcycling is a universal language, and the challenges we face are often the same around the world. These collaborative meetings are essential as we work to strengthen the sport for all riders,” says Dingman.
FIM North America includes the AMA, the Canadian Motorcycle Association, and the Barbados Motoring Federation. While the group has traditionally maintained a selective calendar, FIM NA Secretary General and AMA COO James Holter noted that new events, such as the FIM NA Arenacross Continental Championship, signal growth opportunities ahead.
“The advice and consultation with other CONUs are critical as we chart the future of FIM North America,” Holter says.
The AMA is the FIM-affiliated national federation representing the United States and remains one of the largest motorcycle federations in the world.
FIM CEO Françoise Emery, Deputy CEO Damiano Zamana, and FMN/CONU Liaison Director Nita Korhonen joined the meetings, along with local support from England’s Auto-Cycle Union.
