Rider shares 2025 Gold Wing video, busting ‘couch on wheels’ myth for younger buyers

According to Rider magazine, when Honda introduced the GL1800 in 2018, it was “sportier” than previous versions of the Gold Wing. Over the last couple of model generations, the Gold Wing’s handling, acceleration, and braking have improved significantly.

You’ve probably heard the “couch on wheels” stereotype parroted over the years, mostly by people who’ve never ridden a Gold Wing. To dispel that myth, with support from Honda, Rider editors created a video titled “Think you know the Gold Wing? Think again.” In the video, Greg and Kevin take a pair of Wings into the canyons and onto a closed-course track to show what they can do. Honda is using the video to introduce younger riders/buyers to the Gold Wing and to show that it can also be sporty. Check it out:
