BRP reveals new 2013 Sea-Doo, Can-Am lineup at meeting

News release

BRP dealers and distributors from around the world gathered in Maryland to attend the unveiling of model year 2013 Can-Am Spyder roadsters and Sea-Doo watercraft. BRP also introduced two additional new products to its current 2013 Can-Am off-road line-up: the Can-Am Maverick sport side-by-side vehicle and a new Can-Am Outlander ATV.

The highlight of the Can-Am roadster lineup is the all-new sport-touring roadster. After the Can-Am Spyder RS roadster in 2008 and the Spyder RT model in 2010, BRP is introducing its third model to the lineup: the Can-Am Spyder ST roadster, a sport touring vehicle with the right blend of comfort and sportiness to set it apart from the others.

With its sport-touring rider ergonomics, added footboards for more legroom (applies to all Can-Am roadster models, except base), the same muscular Rotax 991 V-twin engine and all BRP-renown safety features such as VSS, the Spyder ST roadster is as comfortable and nimble for a quick jaunt around town, as it is on a spirited ride on a favorite country lane, or a week-long getaway up the coast.

Innovations to the 2013 Can-Am roadster lineup also include the Brembo brake system specifically designed for Can-Am roadsters, a new suspension for better handling and performance and new front fenders with integrated LEDs for refined style and improved aerodynamics (available on Spyder ST and Spyder RT specific SE5 packages).

“The Can-Am Spyder ST roadster complements the existing Spyder RS and Spyder RT line-ups perfectly,” said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, North America division. “It offers confidence-inspiring handling and control, as well as a ride that’s as unique as it is exhilarating.”

Dealers and distributors also had a chance to try last week’s star of the Sand Sports Super Show in San Diego, where BRP unveiled its first sport side-by-side vehicle, the Can-Am Maverick.

The new-from-the-ground-up Can-Am Maverick 1000R side-by-side vehicle is built to offer industry-leading 101 HP performance, precision-engineered handling and a driver-focused design unlike any sport side-by-side vehicle to date.

Powered by a Rotax 1000R V-twin powerpack that is unrivalled in the side-by-side vehicle market, the new Can-Am Maverick model offers the most powerful engine within the industry and leads its class in torque, acceleration and power-to-weight ratio. The Maverick side-by-side vehicle’s muscular set-up is complemented by a unique, sport-tuned front-and-rear suspension, a rigid frame with a centralized mid-engine layout, advanced ergonomics and a stunning design that make it stand out in a crowd.

“The Can-Am Maverick side-by-side vehicle is sure to please the most dedicated hardcore off-road sport enthusiasts with its unmatched and aggressive styling industry-leading performance, both of which unquestionably reflect the Can-Am brand,” said Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, International division.

Other features of the Maverick sport side-by-side vehicle include: high-flow dynamics, Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC), dual exhaust, continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Zylon reinforced drive belt, a steel frame engineered in way that it offers supreme traction, athletic agility and confidence-inspiring handling while at the same time offering improved rigidity versus the competition. A revolutionary and compact Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) independent rear suspension improves traction while also reducing unsprung weight and eliminating bump steer for extremely predictable handling. A strategically designed exterior gives the Maverick side-by-side vehicle its own look, while the innovative and purpose-built performance package rewards owners with unmatched comfort, convenience and safety.

The Maverick side-by-side vehicle is made for recreational enjoyment, but also caters to true adventurists with its multi-function rear rack with LinQ system compatibility.

BRP also introduced its 2014 Can-Am Maverick MAX 4-seat model, available worldwide next summer.

Continuing with surprises, BRP also introduced an all-new Can-Am Outlander 650 X mr ATV, its newest hero for mud-riding enthusiasts. The 650 X mr ATV is every bit as tough and polished as the big-bore 1000 X mr model, but its ability to seamlessly cross over from the mud to the trails adds to its versatility and makes it a whole new breed in the industry.

Among BRP’s new Sea-Doo product updates is the GTI Limited 155 watercraft, a striking, luxurious watercraft in all-new Anthracite Grey color. The GTI Limited 155 model comes with BRP’s industry-exclusive Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR) technology and cruise control with the Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) system with ECO Mode for best fuel efficiency. BRP continues to push the water sports world with the only tow-specific watercraft with the 2013 Sea-Doo WAKE models. BRP’s award-winning Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 carries on the BRP performance heritage, leading the musclecraft benchmark with the new T3 hull and Ergolock system empowering riders to ride like pros with less effort.

“More than 800 on-site dealers and distributors were delighted to see how many innovations and new products were introduced during this meeting,” Leduc added. “It really shows our commitment to remain the leader in the industry and to provide our network with a variety of products to grow their business.”
