According to sister publication, OPE-Plus.com, the transaction will transfer Excel Industries, which primarily manufactures professional-grade, gas-powered ride-on and zero-turn mowers under the Hustler brand, to Bad Boy Mowers. Excel is expected to generate approximately $300 million in fiscal 2026 revenue.

The deal is part of Stanley Black & Decker’s ongoing effort to refine its portfolio and focus investment on areas it views as having the greatest growth potential.

“The sale of Excel further refines our portfolio and unlocks greater shareholder value by concentrating resources on the areas where we see the most compelling opportunities to grow and win,” says Chris Nelson, president and CEO of Stanley Black & Decker.

Nelson said Stanley Black & Decker remains committed to its broader Outdoor business, including brands such as Cub Cadet, DeWalt, Craftsman, Troy-Bilt and Black+Decker. The company also plans to continue investing in electric outdoor products as well as residential ride-on and zero-turn mowers.

Bill Beck, president of Tools & Outdoor at Stanley Black & Decker, thanked Excel employees for their contributions and said the business is positioned for the next phase of its development.

Bad Boy Mowers CEO Peter Ballantyne said the company plans to support Hustler’s continued growth.

“We are excited to welcome Hustler and its talented team to the Bad Boy family,” Ballantyne says. “We have tremendous respect for the business and the team that has built it over many decades.”

For powersports and outdoor power equipment dealers, the transaction represents a significant change in ownership for a well-established commercial mower brand. Hustler joins Bad Boy Mowers, another established manufacturer focused heavily on the professional zero-turn mower market.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. Until the deal closes, Excel’s financial results will remain part of Stanley Black & Decker’s continuing operations.
