Kansas dealership adds mower line to showroom, sees growth

Cycle Zone now offering Bad Boy Mowers

Whether branching out into the electric bicycle market or adding outdoor power equipment, powersports dealers across the board are expanding their offerings to gain new customers.

Cycle Zone Powersports added Bad Boy Mowers to its lineup in 2017. The dealership, located in Topeka, Kansas, also carries multiple powersports brands, including Sea-Doo, KTM, Yamaha, Can-Am and Spyder.

“We added Bad Boy Mowers as a kind of diversification of product lines we offer. We didn’t have any type of mowers before, so this was the first one,” said Bob Carlson, sales manager at Cycle Zone Powersports. “So far the decision has been really good for us. We’ve been happy.”

Cycle Zone Powersports set aside a space for up to four mowers on its showroom floor. Carlson said typically customers who come in who have interest in the Bad Boy Mowers are coming in solely for a mower, not powersports products. “There’s maybe a little bit of crossover, but not a huge amount. We see some powersports guys coming in and then looking at them,” he added.

The dealership advertises the available Bad Boy Mowers in e-mail blasts to its customers. The inventory includes 2017 models: the ZT Elite Kawasaki FR730 6000, MZ Kohler KT725 4200, ZT Elite Kawasaki FR730 5400 and Maverick Kawasaki FS730 5400.

To meet the increase in interest from customers who are purchasing the Bad Boy Mower line, Cycle Zone Powersports now offers service work for Bad Boy and all other lawn mower brands.
