Japan’s exports, production numbers decrease
Japan’s motorcycle production and export numbers fell for the second straight month in comparison to last year’s figures.
Motorcycle production in February was 154,969 units, which was 1.1 percent down from February 2005, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association.
The number of motorcycles exported from Japan was 122,736 units, down 10,782 units or 8.1 percent as compared to the same month of the previous year.
The total value of motorcycles exported for February was $773.39 million, including $649.58 for vehicles and $123.8 for parts. This is a decrease of $8.4 million or 1.1 percent from the previous year.
Japan’s production and export numbers also were down in January, JAMA figures showed. January’s production decreased 6.4 percent compared to the previous year and exports were down 9.7 percent.
