Yamaha Plans Boost in Vietnam Ops
Japan’s Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. has updated its production plans in Vietnam.
According to a medium-term business plan released in 2005, Yamaha had originally planned to produce 350,000 motorcycles this year and 420,000 in 2007. However, this month, the company said production increases were continuing in Vietnam at a faster-than-anticipated clip, putting it on track to reach 500,000 motorcycles as early as 2007.
In other Yamaha news from Vietnam, the company intends to have a motorcycle parts manufacturing subsidiary begin operations in Hanoi by February. The facility will serve booming demand in Southeast Asia.
