NPA hires former dealer principal to facilitate Denver growth
National Powersport Auctions (NPA), the leading provider of powersport remarketing and auction services, has named a familiar face in the Denver powersports world to help facilitate growth at its newest live auction location, also in Denver.
NPA has added Denver local and longtime powersport enthusiast Marshall Van Thorre to the team as Central Territory Sales Manager.
With 24 years of experience as a dealer principal, sales manager and finance manager, Van Thorre has the knowledge and understanding needed to provide unparalleled service to dealers in the Central region, which encompasses Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and Kansas.
“As NPA continues to grow our new Denver facility, which just opened for live in-person bidding, we saw the need to break up the central region and bring in another territory sales manager to help with this effort,” said Mike Murray, VP of Sales. “Marshall [Van Thorre] is local to the Denver area, and will be able to dedicate even more time and resources to providing the best experience to our dealers. Marshall has decades of experience within a dealership. He is going to offer reputable guidance and support immediately. We’re excited to have him on our team.”
Van Thorre has been in the industry since 1997 when he and his father purchased a Honda dealership in Northern Colorado. Since then, he’s stayed within the dealer network, working as a Sales Manager and in the finance department at Sun Enterprises.
“I’ve worked in several dealerships and been in many different roles for a long time, so I understand the inner workings of each department,” explained Van Thorre.
“While I was at Sun, I was responsible for buying and consigning units through NPA, so I experienced the benefits of NPA firsthand. I’m excited to take that experience I have and help other dealers in the industry be successful and grow their businesses with the tools and services provided by NPA.”
Passion drives the motorcycle industry, and despite starting on a motorcycle later in life, that is no different for Van Thorre. “I started riding later than most. Motorcycles were too dangerous for my mom, so I had to buy my first bike without my parents knowing at 19. I eventually brought the motorcycle home, and that ultimately started the next chapter in my life. My passion for performance and leading-edge technology brought me to the motorcycle industry, and the camaraderie and meeting new people every day keeps my passion alive.”
