KTM sets sales record for first half of year

KTM AG today announced several impressive sales gains, including:

Sales: 70,469 vehicles / +27.8%

Revenue: 410.3 million EUR / +17.6%

EBIT: 33.6 million EUR / +82.6%

Headcount: Increased by 204 to 2,053

In the first half of financial year 2014, KTM AG achieved the highest sales and revenue in the company’s history for this period of time, with the brands KTM and Husqvarna. KTM sold 70,469 bikes worldwide. This means an increase of 27.8 % to prior year. KTM therefore achieved a revenue of 410.3 million EUR in the first half year, this means an increase of 17.6% compared to the same period in prior year.

The successful launch of the new 1290 SuperDuke and the sales start of the new Husqvarna model range were crucial for the success, amongst others.

KTM achieved a market share of 7.7% of the total European market.

In the first half year of 2014, EBIT increase significantly by 82.6 % to 33.6 million EUR compared to the same reporting period in prior year. Therefore, the EBIT margin increased strongly from 5.3% in the first half year of 2013 to 8.2% in the first half year of 2014.

In the first half year of 2014, KTM increased the headcount worldwide by 204 employees to 2,053 employees. In Austrian sites alone, headcount increased by 125 employees. At the beginning of September, 26 apprentices start their apprenticeship training, and therefore, 83 apprentices are employed at KTM.

Outlook

Due to the internationalization steps and the implementation of the global product strategy, further growth is expected.

For the financial year 2014 in total, KTM expects an increase in sales and revenue as well as a further growth in market shares.

In the medium term, KTM expects to increase sales figures in the next five years significantly. Therefore, investments in the current infrastructure at the plant in Mattighofen as well as an increase in the capacity of the production plant are planned or have already been implemented.
