KYMCO USA announces passing of longtime executive Joe Wofford
KYMCO USA is mourning the unexpected passing of Joe Wofford, a longtime member of the company who was widely known throughout the powersports industry as “KYMCO Joe.”

Wofford died Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to a statement released by KYMCO USA on Nov. 2. He had been involved with the business for more than 30 years.
“His family, our KYMCO team, and all those who knew him are devastated right now,” the company said in its statement.
KYMCO described Wofford as a passionate and committed member of the organization whose genuine care for the business and the people he encountered made a lasting impression throughout his career.
“This business was a huge part of Joe’s life; his passion, commitment and genuine care were well known by everyone he interacted with, even if only for a few minutes,” the company said.

Wofford also played a significant role in the company’s preparations for the upcoming SEMA Show, which was scheduled for the days following his passing. KYMCO said he had championed the company’s participation and worked extensively with the team to plan its presence at the event.
Despite the loss, the company said it intends to continue with those plans and carry forward the work Wofford had invested in over three decades.
“As hard as it is right now, we know Joe wouldn’t want us to slow down,” the statement said. “He would want us all to ‘keep our foot on the gas!’”
KYMCO said its team plans to continue sharing the company’s products and its story while remembering Wofford and the enthusiasm he brought to the business.
“For Joe,” the company concluded.
