New Missouri law pushes back school year start date; tourism related: report

On Thursday, Missouri governor Mike Parson barred public school districts from starting classes more than 14 calendar days before the first Monday in September in a bid to increase tourism. The new legislation comes after concerns were raised that the earlier start date was affecting tourism spending in the state with families ending their summer vacations in early August.
