Powersports enthusiasts who attended recent International Motorcycle Shows were the first to try a virtual ride to Sturgis, S.D. courtesy of Victory Motorcycles. The Minnesota-based brand wanted to promote itself in a new and exciting way, partnering with Oculus Rift and produced by digital agency space150, according to a story on Mashable.com.
“When you’re establishing yourself as an innovative brand that looks forward, it reinforces that point when you use an innovative technology like Oculus Rift,” said Reid Wilson, Victory’s marketing manager. “And people will always remember the first time they tried it. We wanted that association.”
The simulated ride traveled through the Badlands with an immersive 360-degree experience. In combination with sound effects, throttle control and recreated vibrations, the ride feels like the real deal.
