Report: Honda files hybrid motorcycle patent
Honda has filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to produce a hybrid motorcycle, according to an online report at Motorbiker.org.
The patent application was filed in September, and it appears to be designed for a Gold Wing, according to the report.
Since the website produced the report on April 26, several media outlets have picked up on the story, including USA Today.
MotorTrend magazine viewed the patent and reported that it lists an electric stator motor for the bike that would be positioned between the front wheel and the engine. Alex Nishimoto, author of the MotorTrend online article, wrote that the design appears to indicate that the motorcycle would use both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.
