Gerbing’s brings production back to the U.S.

Gerbing’s Heated Clothing is moving its production out of China and back to the United States, according to several published reports.

Owner Jeff Gerbing told a crowd in Stoneville, N.C., on Thursday that production costs in China have climbed, and control of production is becoming difficult, according to the Greensboro News & Record.

“I’m really excited to bring ‘Made in America’ back to my company,” he said, according to the newspaper.

The company’s production will run out of a former furniture manufacturing facility in Stoneville. The company has reported it will bring at least 150 jobs to the area. Gerbing also told the Greensboro News & Record that he wants to open a retail store at the site and might bring on another 150 jobs in the future. He also said there’s a possibility that the company’s headquarters, which are located in Tumwater, Wash., could be moved to Stoneville.
