BMW’s year-long sales increase continues into April

BMW’s worldwide motorcycle sales remain significantly above a year ago, the company recently reported.

The manufacturer’s April sales increased 22.5 percent over a year ago, totaling 12,452 units. Sales in North America for the month or year-to-date were not specified in the online report.

For the year, BMW has sold more than 33,200 units, an increase of 21.5 percent. The company says its GS model with Boxer engine is the brand’s best-selling model.

Demand for BMW’s first supersport bike, the S 1000 RR, has exceeded production capacity, the company said. In April, 1,471 units of this model were delivered to customers around the world.
