Lead law affects about 85 percent of respondents’ sales, reveals poll

Powersports Business polled its readers on how much the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act and its banning of certain youth vehicles and parts and accessories affected their businesses.

About 85 percent of respondents said the law has affected their sales in some way. One-third of all respondents said their sales are off more than 20 percent. Nearly another third said their sales are off 10-20 percent.

The numbers don’t get much better as about 20 percent of respondents said sales were off less than 10 percent. Only about 15 percent said the ban hasn’t had an effect on their businesses.
