Yamaha introduces PWC fuel savings feature
Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S.A. announced a PWC industry first with its fuel savings feature Low RPM Mode. It saves the Yamaha WaveRunner up to 26 percent in fuel costs based on annual use, stated a Yamaha press release.
The Low RPM Mode automatically adjusts the maximum RPM across all throttle positions, but it must be activated to do so. It’s wirelessly started through a handheld remote transmitter.
The feature is on the FX SHO Series and on half of Yamaha’s 2008 model lineup.
With oil prices climbing, Bryan Seti, national marketing manager of Yamaha WaterCraft, said, “It’s clear that fuel consumption is an important factor in determining how people enjoy their time on the water. We’ve always been focused on creating cleaner, more efficient engines and our Low RPM Mode helps our owners save money and still enjoy the fun and excitement of riding a Yamaha WaveRunner.”
