International Motorcycle Shows release attendance figures

More than a half million people attended the International Motorcycle Shows, according to the event’s organizer.

The shows displayed the most powersports vehicles in its history. There were more than 600 new model street bikes, dirt bikes, cruisers, scooters and ATVs from 19 manufacturers, including Aprilia, BMW, Buell, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyosung, Kawasaki, KTM, KYMCO, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Piaggio, Star, Suzuki, URAL, Vespa, Victory and Yamaha.

Group Show Director Jeff D’Entremont says this year was a big accomplishment.

“This year’s series was a great success as hundreds of motorcycles, accessories and related product vendors took up more than 1 million square feet or 18 football fields worth of exhibit space across the nation to showcase the latest the industry has to offer,” D’Entremont said in the release. “The addition of Hyosung, KTM and KYMCO brands to our already impressive line-up of manufacturers truly expanded the selection of bikes for attendees to see, making this tour the largest in our history.

“Plans are well under way for the 2009 tour with an array of exciting new features and programs in development to further improve the overall show experience.”
