AMA adds Scott Jones to government relations team as Central States representative
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has added Texas attorney and public-land access advocate Scott Jones to its government relations department as Central States Representative.
Jones will lead AMA legislative advocacy efforts across the central states, focusing on issues affecting both on- and off-road motorcyclists.
“Scott is a welcome addition to our legislative team here at the AMA,” says Nick Haris, AMA government relations director and Western States Representative. “His extensive knowledge of public land access issues makes him an outstanding addition to our advocacy team, and we look forward to having him aboard as we fight for riders’ rights throughout the central states.”
Jones is a longtime advocate for sustainable recreational access to public lands and a founding member of several national organizations focused on preserving off-road riding opportunities. He is a member of the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) Hall of Fame and is the founder and principal of Land Access Consulting LLC, an Argyle, Texas-based advocacy group focused on sustainable multiple use of public lands.
He also is a founding member of One Voice for Motorized Recreation and the United Snowmobile Alliance. His professional affiliations include NOHVCC, the Off-Road Business Association (ORBA), the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition and the Colorado Outdoor Partnership Collaborative.
Jones founded Land Access Consulting in 2010 after working in various roles at law offices in New York and Colorado. He earned his law degree from Albany Law School of Union University in Albany, New York, with a specialization in environmental law.
“As a longtime rider, I look forward to working alongside Nick and the rest of the government relations team at the AMA,” Jones adds. “There are plenty of issues that face motorcyclists in the central states, both on- and off-road, and I am eager to get started in support of my fellow riders.”
Jones’ appointment comes as public-land access, off-highway vehicle policy and recreational access remain key legislative issues for the motorcycle and ATV industries. Riders and industry members can follow the AMA’s government relations efforts through its Rights Updates program.
