Polaris, Eicher to build small vehicle in India

As the result of their joint venture, Polaris Industries and Eicher Motors plan to produce a 600cc diesel four-wheeled vehicle aimed at farmers, bakers and small distributors in India.

The vehicle will run on a Greaves Cotton engine, and it will come in two versions — double-cabin micro pickup and multi-purpose van, a source told India’s The Economic Times. Commercial product is expected to begin in May at a facility in Jaipur. Polaris’ and Eicher’s aim is to produce a vehicle that is inexpensive to purchase and run, the source said.
