Info-Link sales report: PWC sales rise in May

PWC sales increased by 15 nearly 15 percent for the 12 months ending in May, according to the latest Info-Link Bellwether report.

The Bellwether report tracks sales of powerboats across the country based on new U.S. boat registrations on a rolling 12-month basis. Bellwether states are geographically dispersed states representing roughly half of the U.S. boat market (varies by market segment and time of year).

All powerboat sales were up about 8 percent on a rolling 12-month basis.

The ski boat segment showed the strongest performance, up 15 percent for the period, while the PWC segment stayed strong, up nearly 15 percent.

The sportfish and overall outboard segment were also up for the rolling 12-month period, increasing by almost 10 percent.

The sterndrive/jet market was up about 5 percent for the period, posting its best mark since the recession.
