Retail Sales Report March 31, 2004

Motor cycle unit sales and total sales                                                                                                                                                                                                                         ATV sales jumped 13% in January, the first double digit sales month for quads since last October, according to numbers compiled by the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC). ATV sales do not include many Asian makers of youth machines.

For the month, ATV sales were 43,324 units, up 4,984 units over January 2003.

Motorcycle sales edged up 2% for the month compared to January 2003. Sales were 41,851 units compared to 41,037 units.

The highway segment continued to be the largest segment, posting sales of 22,260 units, but the segment declined 3.1% from the same month last year.

Also declining was the dual bike segment which was off 3.5% for the month, slipping to 988 units from 1,024 units last January.

Scooter sales were up 47% for the month, climbing to 1,636 units.
