Yamaha YE-01 electric motocross concept to run at MXoN
Yamaha Motor will conduct an exhibition run of its YE-01 Racing Concept at the 2026 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN) in Ernée, France, as the company continues development of an electric motocross race bike.

Developed jointly with French electric motorcycle manufacturer Electric Motion SAS, the YE-01 combines Yamaha’s YZ450F chassis technology and motocross racing experience with Electric Motion’s electric powertrain expertise. Yamaha said the project is intended to maintain the core characteristics of motocross while exploring how electric power can provide a different riding experience.
The YE-01 was previously displayed at the 2025 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. Yamaha describes the project as part of its broader efforts to develop electrification technologies under its Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050.
Yamaha YE-01 features
The YE-01 uses a newly designed frame developed from chassis technology used on the YZ450F. Yamaha says the frame is intended to provide handling stability and control while maintaining a direct connection between the rider and motorcycle. The bike also features a power unit developed jointly by Yamaha and Electric Motion specifically for the YE-01 Racing Concept.

One of the more notable features is a mechanical clutch. Yamaha said the clutch allows riders to control drive force through a conventional clutch lever, providing a familiar control element and allowing riders to modulate the bike’s power delivery. The company said the YE-01 represents one potential direction for the future of motocross as it evaluates electrification while maintaining the sport’s performance and riding characteristics.
The 2026 MXoN is scheduled for Oct. 2-4 at Ernée, France.
