Spartanburg, South Carolina-based KYMCO USA has hired industry veteran Sean Gatesy as its new vice president of Sales for both the U.S. and Canada, starting May 14. Mike Hancock, who formerly handled U.S. sales for KYMCO as national sales manager, and the company have parted ways. KYMCO has launched a search for a U.S. national sales manager.
Gatesy, who has 19 years of industry experience, most recently spent nine months as Northeast regional sales director for Textron Specialized Vehicles. Prior to that, he was channel development manager. He also spent time as East Region sales manager for Arctic Cat, and over seven years as NYC Tri-State Area district sales manager for BRP. He was general manager for over five years at the Motorcycle Mall, a dealership in Belleville, New Jersey.
“At this time, with over half a century’s manufacturing excellency and success in all key European markets, KYMCO has only scratched the surface of the market potential in the North America,” Gatesy said. “While other OEMs have experienced stagnant sales and downsizes, KYMCO USA’s growth opportunity is unlimited.”
Gatesy will be recruiting top talent to double KYMCO’s sales force within a year, and anticipates high interest with KYMCO’s unprecedented and uncapped commission structure, the company said.
