Motorcycle lending leads to federal lawsuit

On May 7, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch filed a complaint in federal court in Chicago against the Evergreen Bank Group. According to ChicagoBusiness.com, Lynch accused Evergreen of “failing to supervise motorcycle dealers who marked up interest rates on loans to certain customers and caused about 1,500 Hispanics and 700 African-American borrowers to pay higher rates than white borrowers with the same credit characteristics.”

Although Evergreen denies the allegations, it has agreed to a consent order, setting aside $395,000 to compensate affected buyers.
