Yamaha plans to make global commuter bikes in India
Yamaha Motor Co. reported to The Economic Times that it plans to develop and manufacture 100-200cc global commuter bikes in India.
The Indian-made models would be sold in Europe, Asia, South America, China, other emerging markets and even in Japan, Yamaha’s corporate home. Yamaha Motor Co. president and CEO Hiroyuki Yanagi said the plan is to create “sporty and stylish models” in India. In April, the company announced it was establishing a new R&D center in India.
