6D Helmets appoints bicycle industry veteran as new director of sales

Aftermarket helmet manufacturer 6D Helmets announced it has appointed Matt Ford as its new director of sales, operations and strategic growth.

Ford will work closely with Bob Weber, co-founder and CEO of 6D Helmets, to lead the company’s sales and operational initiatives, expand the brand’s reach, strengthen business partnerships, and support strategic growth.

Ford brings more than 30 years of experience in the bicycle industry as a retailer, operator and senior business leader. He founded Rock N Road Cyclery in Southern California in 1992, growing the business into one of the region’s leading specialty bicycle retailers.

Most recently, Ford led retail for Specialized Bicycle Components, overseeing a large network of company-owned locations across North America. Ford also has a unique relationship between the bicycle and motorcycle communities. For 15 years, he’s helped organize the annual A1 Ride Daze, an Orange County cycling tradition that features athletes from both cycling and motorcycle racing.

“Bicycles have been the foundation of my career, but the connection between the bicycle and moto communities has been a part of my life for many years,” says Ford. “Through A1 Ride Daze, I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships with athletes and people throughout the moto industry and see firsthand how closely these two worlds are connected. Whether someone is lining up for a Supercross race, heading out on a mountain bike, or simply enjoying a ride with friends, the helmet is the most important piece of protective equipment they will put on.”
