New Michigan motorcycle license law goes into effect
Michigan’s new law that limits temporary motorcycle riding permits went into effect Jan. 1.
The new law allows riders to apply for a 180-day temporary permit only once after taking a written test, reported Newschannel 3 of Kalamazoo, Mich. The permit requires riders to be supervised by a fully licensed motorcyclist while operating a motorcycle. Previously, riders could reapply for the temporary permit annually, which led many to never earn their full motorcycle endorsement.
Daniel Lummis, owner of Diggers Speed Shop in Kalamazoo, told Newschannel 3 that he supports the new law and is educating his customers about it.
