Harley-Davidson drops plans to build a new plant

Harley-Davidson canceled its plans to build a $10 million plant for its Buell motorcycle division, according to the Associated Press.

Harley-Davidson spokeswoman Rebecca Bortner said in the release that executives dropped the plan after the company’s new CEO, Keith Wandell, “took a fresh look” at the consolidation.

Last week, Buell said it would lower costs by consolidating five office and factory locations into a new plant in East Troy.

Bortner says Harley wants to remain focused on its larger capital restructuring plans, including the possibility of closing its York, Pa., plant.
