BRP ordered to pay dealer
A district judge in Montana ordered Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) to pay $7.7 million to dealership Hi-Tech Motor Sports Inc. of Billings, Mont.
A jury found that Hi-Tech sustained $7.26 million in damages when BRP, in 2001, pulled Hi-Tech’s dealer license and repossessed its snowmobiles. Attorney’s fees are included in the $7.7 million award.
According to Montana’s Dealer Protection Act, which covers auto and powersports dealers, a dealership agreement can only be canceled when the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles agrees that the supplier has good cause.
