Blackhawk Motorsports Destroyed in Blaze

A fire that brought more than 50 firefighters from 15 fire departments gutted Blackhawk Motorsports Inc. of Strasburg, Ohio, on Sept. 25. It has been ruled arson by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
The dealership sold and serviced Suzuki and KTM. Brian Kohl has owned the property and building since 1997. Jerry Kohl, Brian’s father, told the New Philadelphia Times Reporter that he constructed the 40-by-110-foot building in 1991 and turned it over to his son in 1997.
The blaze caused an estimated $3 million in losses to the building and contents. Jerry Kohl told the newspaper a new shipment of ATVs and motorcycles had just arrived two weeks ago. He said 70 units were lost.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to those responsible for the fire.
