Indian Chief Vintage Sturgis SD Edition unveiled at 86th annual rally
Indian Motorcycle rolled out a new limited-edition model to celebrate the 86th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the manufacturer’s role in that inaugural 1938 rally.

The new Indian Chief Vintage Sturgis SD Edition celebrates Indian’s place in the rally’s history with special paint and badging inspired by Indian bikes of the 1930s. It features a classic two-tone Indian Motorcycle Red and Cream paint with a multicolored headdress logo. Paying tribute to the numbers that the 1938 racers painted on their race bikes is a number 56 on the side plate. In honor of Indian’s 125th anniversary, 125 individually serialized motorcycles will be produced.
“When you look at how far it’s come and how much it’s grown over almost 90 years, it’s amazing to think that it was an Indian Motorcycle dealer and a group of Indian Motorcycle riders that literally started it all.” — Mike Kennedy, CEO, Indian Motorcycle.
The Indian Chief Vintage is a new model for 2026, based on the Chief platform that debuted in 2022. The Vintage is powered by an air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V-twin and features classic styling touches such as valanced fenders, wire-spoke wheels, and a solo floating seat.
The 2026 Indian Chief Vintage Sturgis SD Edition is shipping to dealerships, with an MSRP of $23,999 — a $4,000 increase from the standard Chief Vintage. Visit the Indian website for more information.
