Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki looks for Spring Creek 250 repeat
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner and Joey Savatgy are rested and ready for Round 7 of the Pro Motocross Championship from Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota. As the reigning winner of the 250cc race, Savatgy looks to make it back-to-back victories from Millville, while his teammate tries to bounce back from an up-and-down previous round. Rookie Garrett Marchbanks will be sitting out the round due to an injury sustained at RedBud.
Last season, Savatgy picked up some much-needed momentum with his overall victory in Millville. Even though he’s been riding with solid speed, his results haven’t translated and he’s hoping to change that this weekend. With seven rounds complete, Savatgy has nine top-10 moto finishes so far.
“We’ve not been able to put our speed together with the results and I would really like to turn that around this weekend,” said Savatgy. “Going to a track that you know you’ve done well at in the past really gives you a boost of confidence and I’m hoping that is what I need to close out the second half of the season strong.”
Forkner has only raced at Spring Creek once, in his rookie season. While Forkner has been able to collect podium finishes, a win has eluded him so far this season. Forkner has collected 10 top-10 moto finishes this season with four of those finishes on the podium. He’s already proven he can rise to a challenge and with a weekend’s rest and good outlook, Forkner is ready to race to the top.
“I know I can run up front and be up front, but I don’t have anything really to show for it yet,” said Forkner. “It was nice to get some extra rest after going down hard at RedBud. It helps to come back refreshed and I’m ready to go after the win.”
Saturday’s race from Spring Creek MX Park will be broadcast on MAVTV and NBC Sports starting at 2 p.m. ET.
