Another UTV World Championship set, this one in Eagle River in August

September 20th a meeting was held with Eagle River Derby Track staff, committee chairpersons and volunteers. What evolved was a plan to create a summer tourist draw that will be important to that season, as the AMSOIL World Championship Snowmobile Derby is to the winter season. On October 27th the announcement was made of a race to be called the World Championship UTV & ATV Derby.
Race fans at the AMSOIL World Championship Derby races in January (15th to 18th) will be treated to a “sneak peek” of this new venue as there will be a race of these four wheelers inside the famous Derby oval, on the sno Cross course. This first run will show race enthusiasts what they can look forward to in August at the AMSOIL Derby track.
The following is an excerpt from the Derby program book announcing the upcoming summer event.
The AMSOIL WORLD Championship Derby Track will present the newest, hottest type of racing on the horizon, August 28th, 29th and 30th of 2015. And as the Derby does in winter, the same will happen at this summer race – a World Champion will be crowned!
Besides wildly competitive racing in the Derby track bowl there will be a myriad of activities. There will be vendors and displayers in the Expo Hall offering great sale items. Motorhome parking and camping will be available on the grounds. A soon to-be-famous mud hole will offer fun and challenges for those brave enough to try it. Free wash jobs will be offered to these adventuresome riders. There will be an award for the Best Looking ATV and UTV at the show.
Friday night there’ll be an Extreme Free Style show, under the lights. Saturday night will be highlighted with a bonfire and $1.00 BRATS, HOT DOGS, BEER and SODA. Sunday night will be the wind-up with trophy presentations and an awards dinner in the Expo Hall.
