Q&A: Jim Betlach, Show Manager, V-Twin Expo

0713News-BetlachThe V-Twin Expo recently announced that it has changed its show dates, with the V-twin industry’s annual can’t-miss event now scheduled for Feb. 8-9 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati. In previous years, the show had run concurrent with Super Bowl weekend.

Powersports Business editor in chief Dave McMahon recently talked with show producer Jim Betlach to catch up with the show’s plans.

Why did you decide to move the show dates?

“We have had many comments on the Super Bowl clashing with our dates. Coming from exhibitors as well as attendees, we have noticed an increase in the requests to move the dates. We were able to buy our way into the new dates.”

What has the response been from vendors and dealers about the change in dates?

“The response has been 100 percent positive from both sides.”

Did the Minnesota Vikings’ push for a Super Bowl run in 2014 factor into the decision at all?

“No, I’m not sure I can count on their support!”

How is the show shaping up for 2014?

“We are pleased with the renewal numbers and overall interest.”

The show landscape for dealers is getting interesting, to say the least. What is that continues to make your show attractive to dealers and vendors?

“We have been the only exclusive V-twin show for 13 years. We have stayed committed to producing a strictly business event that both dealers and exhibitors can count on. Countless studies have proven the Cincinnati location and timing are correct for the bulk of V-twin dealers and shops. The V-Twin Expo is our industry’s show, and we are proud to host it.”
