Triumph jumps into the Indian market
Triumph Motorcycles will start selling its bikes in India in 2012, the company announced today.
The bikes will originally be imported as fully built units, though the company is studying the possibility of assembling bikes in India in the future. Currently, Triumphs are produced in the U.K. and Thailand.
Triumph has brought on Ashish Joshi, the former head of European operations for Royal Enfield, as its managing director for India.
“India is a very important motorcycle market, and Triumph has assessed it carefully before deciding to step in,” Triumph chief executive Nick Bloor said. “We see it as the next step in our global business model.”
