BRP recalls youth ATVs
BRP has voluntarily recalled its 2008-2009 Can-Am youth ATVs in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), according to the CPSC.
Roughly 1,200 ATVs were recalled because of a possible collision hazard. If the rider is ejected and the cord strap is pulled, the shutoff switch can fail to disable the engine. The ATV can operate uncontrolled, until the engine returns to idle and cause a collision with bystanders, vehicles or other objects. No incidents have been reported.
The recall involves model year 2008-2009 Can-Am DS 90 X ATVs. The model name can be located on the side panels. The ATV is black with yellow and orange trim. They were sold nationwide from August 2007-September for about $3,400.
The vehicles were manufactured by Vietnam Precision Industrial Co., of Vietnam.
