Report: Attendance up at Myrtle Beach rally

Attendance at the annual Cruisin’ the Coast Spring Bike Rally in Myrtle Beach May 13-22 appeared up compared to last year, according to a report by The Sun News out of Myrtle Beach.

Visitors, vendors and area residents estimated the rally attracted 75,000 to 100,000 bikers this year. The number was higher than last year, but lower than its high of about 500,000 guests several years ago, according to the newspaper.

This year’s rally may have brought in more people than in the past few years because in the past year, the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned a Myrtle Beach city law that required helmet use by motorcyclists.
