Aprilia unveils 500cc scooter

Italian motorcycle group Aprilia has unveiled its new Atlantic 500 Sprint scooter, the group’s first new model since the company was taken over last year by Italian rival Piaggio.

The new Atlantic 500, with its single-cylinder, liquid cooled, SOHC four-stroke engine, is expected to strengthen Aprilia’s presence on the market for scooters with an engine size over 350cc, a segment which accounts for a third of the European two-wheel market and which is growing at a rate of about 15% annually.
