Motorcycle sales up 6.5% in November

Motorcycle sales in 2003 continued to post sales gains through November, reaching 846,804 units, according to figures compiled by the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC). That’s an increase of 6.5% over the same period in 2002.

The highway segment continued to be the largest segment, posting sales of 537,608 units through November, up 5.3% over the same 11 months in 2002.


ATVs were off 5.2%, or 3,359 units, in November. For the 11 months of 2003, ATV sales were 698,304 units, up 4% for the year.

The fastest growing segment for the year continues to be scooters, which grew at a rate of 18.8% over the 11 months. Unit sales were 43,732, up 6,920 units over the same period last year. Off-highway sales climbed 8.1% through November, reaching a total of 246,712 units.
