Franchise Association Selects Chairman, Directors
The International Franchise Association (IFA) elected new members to its board of directors during the organization’s 46th annual convention, held recently in Palm Springs, Calif.
Considered the “Voice of Franchising,” the association has a membership of more than 1,000 franchise parent companies, 8,000 franchisees who operate the establishments, and 400 firms that supply goods and services to the sector.
Lawrence “Doc” Cohen became the second franchisee in the history of the IFA to be named chairman of the organization. He is the president of Doc & Associates, a franchisee of the Great American Cookie Co. and Pretzel Time, headquartered in Tomball, Texas. Cohen, an active member of IFA for more than a decade, has held many senior posts including Executive Committee vice-chairmanships, secretary and treasurer. He also chairs the 2006 Convention Committee, FranPAC Advisory Board and serves as a trustee of the IFA Educational Foundation.
Newly-elected members of the IFA Board of Directors include:
– Brad Fishman, founder and CEO of Chicago-based Fishman Public Relations.
– David Jordan, national accounts vice president of PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y.
– Dan Martin, president and CEO of San Diego-based IFX Online, an application service provider.
– R. Eric McCarthey, senior vice president of the 7-Eleven global business team within the Coca-Cola company.
– David J. Mlotkiewicz, owner of Lawn Doctor of Toms River, New Jersey, and operator of eight Lawn Doctor franchises along the Jersey shore.
– Barbara Moran, president and CEO of Moran Industries, Midlothian, Ill.
– Rick Robinson, president and co-owner of Jani-King Southwest, 220 franchisees in Arizona and New Mexico.
– Heather L. Rose is president and CEO of Sona MedSpa International, Franklin, Tenn.
– Nikki Gahr Sells, vice president of franchising for Oklahoma City-based staffing firm Express Personnel Services.
