Nova Scotia Plans TT-style Race

The Cape Breton Festival of Speed, in association with the Isle of Man TT, announced a 32-mile open road motorcycle race to be held near Sydney, Nova Scotia, September 20-24, 2006. Organizers say the event will be the first of its kind in North America.
The Festival of Speed was styled after the legendary Isle of Man TT, or Tourist Trophy, a road course established in 1907. Organizers in Nova Scotia anticipate competitors from the Isle of Man will join North American racers at the event. In fact, Isle of Man Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney attended a special event announcing the Cape Breton Festival.
While motorcycles will be the main event at the inaugural Festival, attractions for automobile enthusiasts are being planned as well. Maureen Carroll, chair of the Cape Breton Festival of Speed, said auto races similar to those in Goodwood, England, and Monterey, Calif., may be held in the future.
