BRP Reveals More Product for 2006
New products, and renewed energy, greeted BRP dealers at the 2006 Club Sea-Doo dealer meeting, held in Whistler, British Columbia, in last week.
Coming off a year of long-sought-after growth in the personal watercraft and jet boat markets, Bombardier Recreational Products sent a strong message to its dealers, saying that BRP’s Sea-Doo brand will lead a continued revival of the PWC market. BRP officials also used the dealer meeting to showcase one new ATV, and pledged to release new ATV products ever six months for the next two years.
PWC
New momentum in the PWC market created the backdrop against which BRP unveiled a broad, exciting PWC line for 2006. The high-end boats were tweaked with new gauges and targeted power boosts. The biggest news, though, came at the entry level, where the GTI three-seater gets a new 127-inch hull, a 130hp 4TEC Rotax engine, reverse, a high-end gauge package and other features.
Sea-Doo Sport Boats
To the applause of assembled dealers, BRP’s Bob Lumley and Louis Laveche announced that, starting with the 2006 lineup, all Sea-Doo jet boats will feature Rotax 4-Tec engines. That means BRP’s relationship with Mercury Marine as a power supplier for some jet boats is coming to an end.
ATV
For the ATV market, BRP unveiled the entry-level DS250, four months after showing the Outlander 800.
Described by the company as an “ATV with a sport look and handling,” the DS250 is built by Taiwan’s SYM. The quad features a four-stroke liquid-cooled 250cc engine, continuously variable transmission (CVT), front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, and an adjustable suspension.
The DS250 also offers BRP another offering for Europe, where small displacement quads are street-legal and sell well. BRP says the unit will be EC homologated with integrated quadricycle components.
BRP, a privately-held company, produces Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Sea-Doo PWC and sport boats, Bombardier ATVs, Rotax engines and karts, Johnson and Evinrude outboard engines, and direct injection technologies such as Evinrude E-TEC.
