Ducati Sales Up in August

Ducati North America says sales in August were up 51% compared to sales in August 2004.
“We’ve been working hard to make Ducati a real force here in the North American market, but this kind of sales success truthfully doesn’t happen over night,” says Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America. “I think by communicating better with our customers we’ve really hit our stride on what types of bikes our enthusiasts want.”
Lock said August sales were aided by a boost in sport touring bikes sales, which were up 72% compared to sales in August 2004.
In other Ducati news, the MH900evoluzione Owners Club, Doc Wong, Nichols Sportbike Service, and Ducati North America are planning La Ducati Day 2005, a charity event scheduled to take place October 23 in La Honda. No kidding.
The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., includes the Meguiar’s sponsored Concorso Ducati, the Ducati Garage Challenge, the Etymotic Research Sponsored Ducati Music Challenge, Technical Seminars, the Aftershocks and Lindemann Engineering sponsored Sportbike Suspension Setup Clinic, a vendor court, food, raffles and charity auction.
All proceeds from entry fees, auctions, sportbike suspension setup clinic and raffles will benefit the La Honda Fire Brigade.
Industry celebrities expected to attend and sign autographs include racer Eric Bostrom, Neil Hodgson and Doug Polen, as well as long distance record holder Gary Eagan, who will also be giving a seminar on his sport touring adventures.
