Ducati qualifies No. 1 overall with Streetfighter V4 prototype at Pikes Peak
Carlin Dunne of the Spider Grips Ducati team will be in superpole position for Sunday’s “Race to the Clouds” after clocking the best time during his qualifying run in the lower section (4:09.550). Dunne is the first to ride the Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype, which will compete in the Exhibition Powersport Division. Teammate Codie Vahsholtz, who qualified in third place overall, will ride the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak in the Heavyweight Division (4:15.775).

This 97th running of “The Race To The Clouds” marks the world premiere of Ducati’s new Streetfighter V4 in prototype form. The Streetfighter V4 derives directly from the sporty Panigale V4, stripped of its fairings, and fitted with high and wide handlebars. The motorcycle also includes a high-performance 1100cc Desmosedici Stradale engine, kept in hand by aerodynamic profiles specifically designed for this model. The production version of the Streetfighter V4 is scheduled to be available in Ducati dealerships starting in Spring 2020.
In addition, Ducati celebrates the kick-off of their “All Roads Lead To Pikes Peak” customer rally this weekend, by providing Ducatisti an exclusive experience and unprecedented access to the race, the team, and the mountain, with the team in and around vibrant Colorado Springs.
Ducati’s heritage at the PPIHC is well-known throughout the world, with Ducati being crowned a winner of the race in 2018, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008, eight instances in total, including last year.
