Yamaha Motor Co. wins seventh-consecutive Red Dot Award

Yamaha Motor Co., announced that its sports commuter TMAX530 DX, and its scooter XMAX 300 have both received the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018. These honors mark the seventh year in a row — every year since the inaugural awards in 2012 — that a Yamaha Motor product has received this award. In addition, this achievement marks the third design award received by the TMAX530 DX and the XMAX 300, following on from the Good Design Award 2017 and the iF Design Award 2018.

Sports Commuter TMAX530 DX

The TMAX530 DX brings the ultimate fusion and balance of two sometimes conflicting styles in one package: With its sports performance-enabling dynamic acceleration, deceleration and handling, as well as a comfortable ride, realized through its range of equipment and functions. This sports commuter with its wide-ranging uses — offering daily commuting and fun riding on weekends — was pioneered by Yamaha Motor when it released the original TMAX in 2001. As a deluxe model, comfort is further bolstered with equipment such as cruise control and an electronically-adjustable screen.

Scooter XMAX 300

The XMAX 300 is the successor to the XMAX 250 which has enjoyed great reviews and popularity in Europe for many years thanks to its fun ride and sporty styling, along with its combination of comfort and practical functionality for city travel and commuting. The new model offers further improvements in comfort and practical functionality, while delivering high-quality styling and agile, yet comfortable, performance that work to satisfy the pride of ownership demands of today. The XMAX 300 is positioned in the middle of the sports commuter MAX series and is being rolled out globally.

The Red Dot Design Awards, organized by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, are widely recognized as one of the most prestigious design awards in the world. Products with designs of outstanding quality are selected each year in the three categories of Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept.
