Textron exec: Jobs to be added in Minnesota

Brandon Haddock, director of Communications for Textron Specialized Vehicles, confirmed to Powersports Business on Wednesday that 50-100 jobs will be added at the Textron engine plant in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Currently the St. Cloud facility produces two- and four-stroke snowmobile engines, as well as ATV engines. Textron is moving engine production from its Textron Motors factory in Bernau bei Berlin, Germany, to St. Cloud.

“Probably the biggest impact on any facility is that St. Cloud is going to see probably in the neighborhood of 50-100 positions over the course of the year moving into that facility, so there will be some job growth in St. Cloud,” Haddock said.

Textron Specialized Vehicles acquired the St. Cloud facility when it purchased Arctic Cat in early March. TSV acquired the Germany facility when it acquired Weber Motor in 2014 and renamed the division Textron Motors. While the Bernau bei Berlin factory will close, engine design and engineering will remain in Markdorf, Germany.
