Ducati issues recall
Ducati North America has issued a recall on certain model year 2014 1199 Superleggera motorcycles manufactured April 8, 2014, through November 13, 2014. On the affected motorcycles, the damper plate assembled between the primary driven gear and the clutch basket assembly could break due to fatigue, and result in the engine seizing, and therefore, the rear wheel locking up. A rear wheel lock up may cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install a new clutch assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on July 18, 2016. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 800/231-6696. Ducati’s number for this recall is SRV-RCL-16-002.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888/327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
