Honda’s motorcycle sales increase in Q2

Honda Motor Co., Ltd., reported its consolidated motorcycle sales were up year-over-year the company’s second quarter, which ended Sept. 30, 2013.

Consolidated unit sales of motorcycles rose 12.2 percent to 2.6 million units in Q2. For the first half of the year, sales were up 6.1 percent to nearly 5.0 million units. Consolidated sales of power products saw a slight increase in the second quarter, up 0.5 percent to 1.3 million units. That segment was down about 1 percent for the first half, with 2.9 million in unit sales.

Overall, Honda reported consolidated operating income for the quarter was up 70.0 percent to ¥171.4 billion, an increase attributed primarily to increase auto sales mainly in North America; increased motorcycle sales mostly in Asia and favorable currency effects.
